Troy Shoppe jewellers is pleased to announce that the store was chosen at this year's Hearts On Fire University as the International Retailer of the Year and nominated as the Hearts On Fire Retailer of the Year. I can't express how proud I am to be chosen out of such an incredible group of nominees.

Hearts On Fire University is three days of training that is unique to the jewellery industry. It is NOT where staff go to learn how to sell or close a sale. It is where the stores employees and owner go to experience a number of different speakers on a range of topics that can impact lives and attitudes in a number of ways. The training is more about how to be a better person and in touch with our own true self than about what makes a diamond special. I already know that the Hearts On Fire diamond is special.

At this year's University an overall theme was "Why" we are doing what we do. As an owner, this was asked of me and the closer I get to the true why, the closer I get to an emotional core value. For myself, I find the "why" is that I have a special feeling out of knowing that the jewellery I sell will touch someone at a time that is special in their life. They will look at the jewellery for years and I will always be a part of that.

I have to thank all the people at Hearts On Fire that support us and help everyday: Kevin, Jason, Mark, Glenn, Susan and all the other support staff.

Luckily for me, I have also found staff that share in the desire to be emotionally connected to the people that come into the store. I have to thank each of the staff: Teresa, Denise, Clancy, Lisa and Daisy for their effort and dedication. I have to also thank my wife for joining me. She tricked me and was not supposed to attend the University but showed up to surprise me at the airport! Of course, she had conspirators but what a great surprise to be able to accept an award with all the people that are a part of my life!
